Due to the latest very necessary restrictions placed on the population due to the Covid 19 virus, the club has been left with no choice other than to suspend the spares service for the time being. This is because Ray can no longer visit the spares store to fulfil orders for members , as it is not classed as a necessary journey.
Club Magazine
Following the successful publication of the March/April magazine, and its secondary distribution via email, we are continuing with creating the May/June issue, which, all being well, will be distributed once again via both means.
I’ve managed to find a better means of bulk email distribution, rather than the slightly clunky MS Outlook means currently being employed. Next time you should see an email from ‘ACCC Editor’, which offers the option of downloading the magazine. I’ll send out a covering email via the previous Outlook method beforehand, just to confirm that I’m about to make this switch.
The ACCC Annual Rally on 20th/21st June in Kent is CANCELLED.
Regretfully, taking into account the advice of the government in light of the Coronavirus crisis we had no other choice. This was not a difficult decision as the health of our members is paramount and many of the club’s membership are in the high risk group.
We intend to carry forward arrangements into 2021 but we will review this in the coming months in conjunction with Graham Potts. If you have made hotel reservations please contact the relevant hotel to cancel. Hopefully taking account of government advice there should be no problem with refunds of deposits.
The 1953 A40 Somerset Coupé, belonging to member Ken McGuire is up for sale at a forthcoming Sothebys auction to be held in Elkhart, Indiana. This really is an outstanding example of this rare car.
Further details can be found here.
This year’s annual rally will take place in Kent, at Mount Ephraim Gardens, nr. Faversham.
The main event is on Sunday the 21st of June, but as usual there will be trips etc. across the weekend, including a visit to the Canterbury and Whitstable railway tunnel on Friday 19th; and a road run from Judds Folly to Dover Castle on Saturday 20th.
Further details will appear in the next issue of ‘County Counsel’, together with a printed rally entry form. The rally entry form can also be downloaded here
For further details, please contact this year’s rally organiser Graham Potts the club’s used spares representative.
Club member Dirk Backenköhler has created his own website, dedicated to the A40 Sports – it’s a very comprehensive site, and certainly will be of interest to ‘Counties’ members. You can find it at www.austina40sports.dirksspacealbum.de
Due to an oversight, membership renewal forms were inadvertently not sent with the Nov/Dec issue of ‘County Counsel’. In order to avoid additional postage costs o sending them separately, we have decided instead to send these with the Jan/Feb 2020 of the magazine.
Please note that if you do not renew following receipt of the Jan/Feb magazine, that will be the last issue you will receive – a similar reminder to this one will be included in the magazine. You can also download a renewal form via our Membership page.
Please renew as soon as possible – our loyal members are very important to us.

Yet Another NEC Success!
At the weekend’s ‘Practical Classics’ Classic Car Restoration Show at Birmingham’s NEC, our PR Representative and Stand Organiser Alastair While once again found favour with the judges who awarded the club ‘Best Club Display at Show – Small Stand‘
Below – Alastair with the trophy – congratulations!
Spares Secretary Ray Dawes has asked that members’ attention is drawn to a supplier of parts for the A40s of our era, some of which are cheaper than he can obtain them for – in particular remanufactured dashboard knobs (see picture below).
The company is called Old Era Services and their website can be found at http://www.oldera.com.au/austin-a40/
